As outlined in our letter to customers at the end of January 2012, changes to AIB Debit Cards (Laser/Maestro) will be implemented with effect from 31st March, 2012.
These changes only affect customers whose Debit Cards are used to access both AIB Cashsave and AIB Current Accounts. From the 31st March 2012 each Debit Card can be used to access one bank account only.
You will no longer be able to withdraw cash or check the balance on your Cashsave Account through AIB ATM’s. Your existing card can only be used to access your Current Account.
If you require access to your Cashsave Account via ATMs, please contact your branch who will arrange an additional AIB Debit Card for you which will operate solely on your Cashsave account.
Please note that each Debit Card is liable for annual Government Stamp Duty, which is currently EUR2.50 per card where the card is used for either an ATM/in-branch transaction or a Point of Sale transaction and EUR5 per card applies where the card is used for both.
Alternatively, you may view the balance of your Cashsave Account and transfer funds between your accounts using AIB Phone & Internet Banking.
If you have any queries, please contact your local branch or call our Customer Support team on (01) 2695022 any time of the day or night.
Important Notice: If you're planning to use your AIB Debit Card at ATMs abroad please note that the current daily cash withdrawal limit of up to EUR600 will vary depending on the location. In some cases the daily cash withdrawal limit may be EUR250 or less, particularly in non European locations.
The AIB Debit Card allows you to access your funds from your AIB Personal Current Account. With an AIB Debit Card you can withdraw cash from ATMs and make purchases wherever the Laser or Maestro logos are displayed.
Your AIB Debit Card is widely accepted in the Republic of Ireland where the Laser/Maestro symbol is displayed and abroad where the Maestro symbol is displayed. You can use your card as follows:
From 6th April 2011 AIB, in association with 'MasterCardŽSecureCode™', is now offering an enhanced service to protect your debit card against unauthorised use when you shop online at participating domestic retailers.
To avail of this secure service, you need to choose a password to use with participating retailers.
For more information on the 'MasterCardŽSecureCode™' service and registration process, please refer to the 'Secure Internet Shopping' link in the Related Information section.
*Please note: You can now also use your AIB Debit Card online where you see the Maestro symbol. In some cases, while a retailer may appear to be based in the Republic of Ireland, the retailer may choose to locate their website or payment processing services outside of the Republic of Ireland which may regrettably prevent you from using your AIB Debit Card to complete your transaction.
You can request an AIB Debit Card through your account holding branch.
