New Criteria FAQs

What happens if my account falls below the €2,500 credit threshold?

Your account will be charged account maintenance and transaction fees for the entire fee quarter. For example, fees will post on the 17th September (for the fee quarter from 28th May - 31st August 2012) if the account has not met the revised criteria.

What balance do you mean?

The revised criteria refers to the daily statement balance. You can view this balance when you receive your statement or e-Statement (it is the balance that appears in the Balance column), on AIB Phone, Internet or Kiosk banking or at an AIB ATM.
Customers are responsible for making provision for any debit transactions that could bring the account balance below €2,500. This includes debit interest, quarterly maintenance and transaction fees, other bank charges and government stamp duty.
This balance is not impacted by any uncleared items, for example a cheque you may have lodged but has not yet cleared or if you have completed a Debit Card transaction, but the retailer has not yet been taken from your account.

When are fees charged?

Account fees are calculated quarterly on the last business Friday of February, May, August and November. The fees are then charged to your account on the 16th (or where the 16th is not a business day, the next business day) of March, June, September & December.
